Wild Iris Coffeehouse & Bakery

Locally owned coffeehouse and scratch bakery beside Granite Creek, one block off the Courthouse Plaza, open since 2007.

Tucked one block off the Courthouse Plaza beside Granite Creek, Wild Iris Coffeehouse & Bakery has been a downtown fixture since November 2007. Owners David and Julie Gorman opened it after Julie decided Prescott needed an old-world-style gathering place, the kind of coffeehouse where people who don’t always agree end up sharing a table. The name is a nod to her great-aunt Jacquie’s prize-winning irises in Kansas City, the same kitchen where Julie learned to love baking.

The counter covers espresso drinks and loose-leaf tea, pastries and desserts baked in-house, and light fare such as sandwiches, quiche, bagels and seasonal soups or salads. The beans come from a micro-roaster in Kirkland, Washington, and are sold by the bag for home brewing.

The building has a story of its own. For decades the Trengove family bottled Coca-Cola on the property, which locals called “the Coke Plant.” In 1999 it was converted into the Terracotta Court shops, with Wild Iris among the early tenants, and it now goes by The Plant.

Tips for visiting

  • Grab a seat in the tree-shaded courtyard by the creek. Dogs are welcome on the patio; inside is for service animals only.
  • Bring your own mug to save 25¢ on your drink.
  • In a hurry? A grab-and-go counter added in late 2025 has its own right-side entrance.
  • Weekend early afternoons are usually the busiest time, so come in the morning for a quieter table. Free Wi-Fi.
  • Free parking is available in the City parking garage across the street.
